Our findings were consistent with other observational data indicating that dietary nitrate may explain some of the cardiovascular benefits of vegetable consumption.]]> Wed 06 Apr 2022 14:00:54 AEST ]]> Omalizumab Is an Effective Intervention in Severe Asthma with Fungal Sensitization https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41826 Tue 28 Mar 2023 11:27:44 AEDT ]]> Accuracy of parent-reported child height and weight and calculated body mass index compared with objectively measured anthropometrics: secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35681 Thu 28 Oct 2021 13:04:55 AEDT ]]> Consistency and Inconsistency of Young Women's Reporting of Intimate Partner Violence in a Population-Based Study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41147 Thu 28 Jul 2022 09:06:16 AEST ]]> Supports used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women for their health, including smoking cessation, and a baby’s health: a cross-sectional survey in New South Wales, Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37496 N = 132. The 19-item survey questioned the likelihood that the participant would use the various supports for their health, to quit smoking, and for a baby or child’s health. Logistic regression analyses were performed on N = 98 with complete data. Older participants were less likely to use Facebook or the internet for their health, or the health of a child, but were more likely to consult with health professionals. Women who had quit smoking were less likely to use an app for their health compared to smokers. Women who had a child living in their household were less likely to use the internet for a child’s health. This community-based study revealed age-related differences for access to health services and differences according to smoking status. Patterns of internet and app use warrant further consideration when planning strategies to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children’s health.]]> Thu 21 Jan 2021 15:05:20 AEDT ]]> The CKD-DETECT study: An RCT aimed at improving intention to initiate a kidney health check in Australian practice nurses https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36542 Thu 17 Mar 2022 14:33:47 AEDT ]]> An evaluation of general practice nurses' knowledge of chronic kidney disease risk factors and screening practices following completion of a case study-based asynchronous e-learning module https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36843 Thu 04 Nov 2021 10:39:30 AEDT ]]> Better diet quality scores are associated with a lower risk of hypertension and non-fatal CVD in middle-aged Australian women over 15 years of follow-up https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38996 n 5324), without CVD, hypertension and diabetes at baseline (2001), with complete FFQ data. Results: There were 1342 new cases of hypertension and 629 new cases of non-fatal CVD over 15 years of follow-up. Multivariate analysis indicated that women reporting better adherence to the ARFS (≥38/74) had 15 % (95 % CI 1, 28 %; P = 0·05) lower odds of hypertension and 46 % (95 % CI 6, 66 %; P = 0·1) lower odds of non-fatal CVD. Women reporting better adherence to the MDS (≥8/17) had 27 % (95 % CI 15, 47 %; P = 0·0006) lower odds of hypertension and 30 % (95 % CI 2, 50 %; P = 0·03) lower odds of non-fatal CVD. Conclusions: Better adherence to diet quality scores is associated with lower risk of hypertension and non-fatal CVD. These results support the need for updated evidenced based on the ADG as well as public health nutrition policies in Australia.]]> Mon 29 Jan 2024 17:54:29 AEDT ]]> Cultural safety in hospitals: validating an empirical measurement tool to capture the Aboriginal patient experience https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39061 Mon 02 May 2022 16:54:05 AEST ]]> Feasibility and efficacy of a web-based family telehealth nutrition intervention to improve child weight status and dietary intake: a pilot randomised controlled trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46439 Fri 25 Nov 2022 15:28:35 AEDT ]]> Dilated hypertrophy: a distinct pattern of cardiac remodeling in preterm infants https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39651 Fri 17 Jun 2022 13:19:10 AEST ]]> A prospective, multi-centre trial of multi-parametric MRI as a biomarker in anal carcinoma https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38429 p = 0.04, ROC AUC 0.90) and standard deviation (SD) (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.90), week 2 skewness (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.91) and SD (p = 0.01, ROC AUC 0.94), week 4 kurtosis (p = 0.01, AUC 0.92) and SD (p = 0.01, ROC AUC 0.96). Changes in minimum ADC between baseline and week 2 (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.94) and baseline and week 4 (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.94) were prognostic for local recurrence. For prediction of any recurrence, ADC minimum (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.87) and SD (p = 0.01, ROC AUC 0.85) at baseline, and ADC maximum (p = 0.03, ROC AUC 0.77) and SD (p = 0.02, ROC AUC 0.81) at week 4 were significant. On LASSO logistic regression, ADC minimum and SD at baseline were retained for any recurrence. The only significant finding for DCE-MRI was a correlation of k-trans min at the second follow-up with local recurrence (p = 0.05, AUC 0.84). Conclusion: Several ADC parameters at various time points correlate with recurrence suggesting DW-MRI is a potential biomarker for SCCAC.]]> Fri 10 Sep 2021 12:16:47 AEST ]]>
